International break gives Man Utd the edge over Everton

Published:

Premier League football has finally returned this weekend after the international break delayed proceedings.

One of the most eye-catching fixtures of this set of games sees Manchester United hosting Everton on Sunday.

The Toffees have to be wary about this encounter as they struggled when these two met in similar circumstances earlier in the season and a price of 11/10 says they’ll be on the losing side again.

Goodison Park was the venue for these two north-west sides to clash after a set of Euro 2016 qualifiers in October and the Red Devils took full advantage.

Morgan Schneiderlin and Ander Herrera both scored in the first half to give United a strong lead, while Wayne Rooney completed a 3-0 rout against his former club.

Backing the same score to come in again is priced at an enticing 16/1 and is not as risky a bet as it may first appear.

Other than the previous meeting aside, their are a number of factors in play that suggest Man Utd could come away with a big victory.

Firstly, aside from the bottom four, only Bournemouth have let in more Premier League goals than Everton this season and for all their attacking talents, the Toffees are incredibly vulnerable at the back.

Roberto Martinez’s men have conceded in all four of their last top-flights outings, even letting Aston Villa find the net against them.

In contrast, the Red Devils have scored three goals in two of their last three league home games, beating Arsenal 3-2 and Stoke City 3-0.

For slightly more cautious punters, a price of 15/4 says that Man Utd will be the first team to score three goals in the game and looking at their form at Old Trafford this would be a sensible investment.
