How Twitter reacted to the return of Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones made its primetime return to British television screens last night, and it’s safe to say that in true style it simply left us all with more questions than answers.
Season six’s opener certainly sent the Twittersphere into a bit of a meltdown, as we found out the fate of Jon Snow, Sansa Stark and Theon Greyjoy, plus, well, everyone after season five left everything on a cliffhanger.
We were whizzed around the Kingdom, catching up on who was where, who was dead and who was a murderer.
So, let’s start with Mr Snow.
Seemingly left for dead by his Night’s Watch, we just refused to believe that he actually was, and is dead even though everybody said he was…

Meanwhile Theon and Sansa were on the run from Ramsay Bolton and his hounds. Would they be saved? Hallelujah! Yes, yes they would.
Good old Brienne of Tarth (and loyal companion Podrick) saved the day, and the two shared an emotional moment, which of course Twitter loved.

The episode, titled ‘The Red Woman’ hadn’t actually featured the eponymous witch for much of the show, but she stole the headlines in the closing moments by revealing her true self.
She’s actually about 300 years old. Ta dah!
