German international keeper could swap Barcelona for Liverpool

With Simon Mignolet frustrating many of the Anfield faithful this season, reports claim Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will swoop for Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

Highly-rated stopper Ter Stegen joined Barcelona in 2014 and has impressed during his first two seasons for the Catalan club. And sources claim Liverpool are looking to swoop for the 23-year-old.

Despite having nailed down his place for Barca’s Champions League fixtures, Ter Stegen has only featured four times in La Liga this season, with Claudio Bravo the regular between the sticks for the Blaugrana in league games.

Valued at £11.25m by Transfermarkt, the Monchengladbach native is hot property right now and is believed to be open to a move, with the promise of regular football likely to interest the player.

And there are no shortage of suitors. Manchester City are reported to have thrown their hat into the ring for the rangy German, and Liverpool may have to dig deep in their transfer warchest to beat off competition from other illustrious clubs.

When asked recently what Barca ‘keeper Luis Enrique had planned for his future, Ter Stegen claimed “I don’t know what the coach thinks” – a comment which has put an increasing number of sides on red alert in their bid to acquire the Champions League-winner sooner rather than later.

Liverpool are next in action at Swansea on Sunday, with the Reds 5/4 to win and the Swans a 21/20 shot.
