Fantasy Football: Points are sparse as Spurs implode

Well well well. Who saw that coming? Leicester fire in their biggest win of the season without their star striker, and then watch as Tottenham go all old-school Spurs and hand the title away at home to West Brom.
What’s worse, is that with a huge number of Fantasy Football teams pinning their hopes on Toby Alderweireld, Dele Alli and Harry Kane, Spurs’ failure to keep a clean sheet or fire in the goals left fantasy gaffers fuming up and down the land.
An average score of 39 reflects Spurs’ woes, while Arsenal didn’t do many favours for anyone after a 0-0 draw at Sunderland, and FA Cup duties ensured we only had seven fixtures to enjoy anyway.
Despite the troubles, each of the Ladbrokes Life gang managed to beat the average score, if only just.
Mr Brightside hobbled to 46 points with no player gaining over double figures aside from captain Sergio Aguero whose six was doubled to 12.
Generous John faired slightly better with 52, largely thanks to a resolute defence which saw clean sheets for Joe Hart, Danny Simpson and Nacho Monreal.
That was one better than The Gut Truster on 51, who had the great foresight to include Jamie Vardy’s stand-in Leonardo Ulloa, but not so great to make Aguero captain instead.
The Professor was in and around the zone too on 49 points, an impressive tally considering none of his players topped nine points.
And after toiling for the entire season, the drinks are on The Believer this week who topped scored out of our five-some with 59!
Ulloa and Aguero provided 25 of those, while solid points came from PFA Player of the Year Riyad Mahrez, Hart in goal and Nacho Monreal.
The top of the Ladbrokes Life League is a much closer affair than the Premier edition, with just 32 points separating the top five in the battle for a £100 free bet. That’s nothing in Fantasy football speak.
Leicester and Spurs have been dominating Fantasy teams this season, but with the pair visiting Manchester United and Chelsea respectively, we could see a host of changes up and down the league this weekend.
The Foxes may have one hand on the Premier League title, but it’s still all to play for in the Ladbrokes Life League.
