Chelsea v Man City: One point all draw-happy Blues can hope for

Published:

Chelsea welcome Manchester City to Stamford Bridge this weekend with faint hopes of reaching the top four still hanging in the balance.

The Blues’ disastrous start to the season saw Guus Hiddink installed as temporary manager and the west London outfit have been incredibly hard to beat since the Dutchman’s arrival.

However, while last weekend’s loss to Swansea was Hiddink’s first league defeat wins have been hard to come by, especially at home.

Chelsea – 17/10 – are unbeaten in eight games in front of their own fans in the league but that stat is tempered by the fact they have drawn six of the last seven at the Bridge and another is 23/10.

City – 8/5 – come into this game on the back of two consecutive wins and will be buoyed by their progression to the Champions League semi-finals for the first time.

Chelsea may have blown a City XI away 5-1 in their last meeting but the form suggests some retribution for Manuel Pellegrini’s side, who have lost just three of the last 14 meetings with the current champions.

Two of the last five clashes saw the Citizens win to nil, a feat which is priced up at 15/4 this weekend, while the other two resulted in a 1-1 draw.

This is perhaps the best the Pensioners can hope for this time round, but with City protecting a narrow gap over the chasing pack for their lucrative fourth place finish, the Sky Blues will be well motivated for the win.

Diego Costa to score and Chelsea to win was 5/2 NOW 7/2.

Sergio Aguero to score and Man city to win was 5/2 NOW 7/2.
