Arsenal v Norwich: Misfiring Gunners to punish poor-travelling Canaries

Published:

Arsenal welcome Norwich to the Emirates in tonight’s Premier League encounter, and while both teams could lay a very good claim to needing three points, it’s the hosts who really should be prevailing this evening.

That’s largely because Norwich have been pretty poor on the road, losing 10 of their last 12 away from Carrow Road.

The Canaries have also failed to score in eight of those fixtures, and only Newcastle and Aston Villa have netted fewer on their travels this season.

Arsenal are unbeaten in seven Premier League games, but after drawing three of their last four, the Gunners still need a win or two to bag that top-four spot.

Arsene Wenger’s men are 1/4 favourites, with Norwich very much unfancied at 11/1, while a repeat of November’s draw between the sides is 19/4.

Despite the Canaries’ goal-shy travels, both teams have netted in eight of the last 10 meetings, and we’re boosting Arsenal to win and both teams to score from 6/4 to 2/1.

Mesut Ozil has enjoyed facing Alex Neil’s men, netting three times in three appearances.

The German is 6/1 to open the scoring and 7/5 anytime, as Arsenal ace Olivier Giroud continues his quest to end his goal drought.

Giroud hasn’t scored in the league since a brace versus Liverpool in mid-January, and he’s now gone 14 games without finding the net.

The Frenchman is 10/3 to score the opener and 4/5 anytime, although it’s Alexis Sanchez who has been Arsenal’s biggest goal threat of late.

Sanchez has netted five in five, and the Chilean can be backed at 7/2 for first goalscorer and 5/6 anytime.

Everything points to an Arsenal win this evening, but they’ll do well to exercise caution playing a team mired in relegation trouble at the thick end of the campaign.
