Aguero right back in Golden Boot contention as Vardy sees red

They say form is temporary and class is permanent, but right now Sergio Aguero has bags of both, and his hat-trick versus Chelsea at the weekend has seen the Man City star turn an all-English Golden Boot duel into an international triumvirate.

Now just one goal behind Tottenham’s Harry Kane and Leicester ace Jamie Vardy, the striker is now 7/4 second-favourite to claim a second top goalscorer gong in succession.

Across Christmas and New Year, you could have backed Aguero at 10/1 to claim the gong and with five goals in his last three Premier League games, the Citizen is the form man of this goal-busting trio.

Jamie Vardy has led the way for much of the season, and his opener for the Foxes against West Ham on Sunday was his fifth in five games for club and country.

But a second yellow card and subsequent red from referee Jon Moss means the England international will miss this weekend’s clash with Swansea, while both Aguero and Kane should feature twice before Vardy is back in action.

The Leicester man is now third-favourite at 11/4, with Kane evens favourite for the accolade, though his odds have fallen from 1/3 following Aguero’s treble at Stamford Bridge.

Kane will be hoping to go heavy odds-on fav again tonight when his Spurs side head to Stoke, before Aguero looks to tear apart a Newcastle side fighting for survival tomorrow night.

Arguably the Premier League’s sharpest marksman, it could be wise to back Aguero sooner rather than later.
