Why Manchester City is the Right Move for John Stones

Everton’s versatile defender John Stones has had a meteoric rise, but could he be ready to take the next step and join Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City revolution?

Having established himself in Roy Hodgson’s England setup, and been voted Everton’s Young Player of the Year in 2014-15, the young star has predictably drawn interest from top clubs.

The Liverpool Echo are reporting that Stones may be set to quit the blue half of Merseyside for that of Manchester. Here is why it would be a good move for both the player and Manchester City.

Pep Gives Youth a Chance

One constant in Pep Guardiola’s time at the Barcelona helm was his trust in young players. The players involved in the successful 2009 Champions League campaign included a 17-year-old Pedro, a 21-year-old Gerard Pique and another player that age, by the name of Lionel Messi. It’s a New Era at Manchester City, Not Everton

Whilst Everton are currently lying in 12th-place in the Premier League, a far cry from the 5th-place finish of 2013-14, City look set to move forward. There’s a Chance of Champions League Football

While Everton’s place in the FA Cup semi-finals gives them a shot at Europa League football next season, it is Manchester City who may be able to offer Stones the chance to face the continent’s elite.

With Manuel Pellegrini’s side currently sitting in 4th place, it is far from guaranteed, but if Champions League football is achieved, it would be a great place for Stones to show his undeniable flair against the very best opposition.

We’re offering 7/4 on Pep bringing Everton’s defensive dynamo to the Etihad Stadium by the end of the Summer transfer window.
