Three times Chelsea have come unstuck at Goodison Park

Guus Hiddink is yet to lose a domestic fixture in his second stint with Chelsea, but a quick trawl through the history books shows his side haven’t always enjoyed heading to Goodison Park.
The west Londoners head to the blue half of Merseyside this weekend, and after seeing their Champions League hopes extinguished in midweek, will do well to avoid the same happening to their FA Cup dreams.
Chelsea have won just three of their last ten trips to Everton, and went down 3-1 in September’s Premier League clash thanks to a Steven Naismith hat-trick.
So ahead of the duo’s quarter-final clash this weekend, we’re taking a look back at Chelsea’s troubles with the Toffees…

Still settling in during his second stint in charge, Jose Mourinho had won two and drawn one of his opening three fixtures back at the Chelsea helm.
However they struggled to break down a resolute Everton defence, plus an inspired Gareth Barry, as a Steven Naismith header – he loves a Chelsea goal – handed Roberto Martinez his first win as boss.
It was less than three years ago, but eight of Chelsea’s starting 11 that day have since left the club.

After labouring to draws at Norwich and Swansea, plus a 3-3 thriller with Manchester United, Andre Villas-Boas’ Chelsea were seeing their title hopes slip away as they headed to Goodison.
The pressure really piled on the Portuguese manager after Steven Pienaar put the hosts ahead just five minutes in, before Denis Stracqualursi (remember him?) netted his only Premier League goal to seal a 2-0 win.
AVB was sacked less than a month later.

Locked in a title fight with Manchester United, Chelsea arrived at Goodison with a slender two point lead.
Things looked good when Florent Malouda put the visitors ahead 17 minutes in, but they hadn’t banked on Louis Saha doing his old side a favour.
The Frenchman netted either side of half-time to hand David Moyes a rare win over a top-four side.
Chelsea got away with it though, as United drew with Aston Villa and they eventually claimed the title in May by a single point.
