Peter Houston named Ladbrokes Championship Manager of the Month

Published:

Peter Houston has been named Ladbrokes Championship Manager of the Month for February after guiding Falkirk to an unbeaten run last Month.

The Bairns got the month off to a decent start when holding Raith to a 2-2 draw and it was onwards and upwards from there as a 1-0 away win over Morton and a 3-1 home victory over Queen of the South saw Falkirk leapfrog Hibernian into second place in the Championship.

The Bairns are now two points clear of the Hibees but perhaps more important is the 13-point gap between Houston’s men and fifth-placed Queen of the South in the race to finish among the promotion play-off places.

With a 12-point lead over the Bairns, league leaders Rangers will take some stopping but based on their form in recent weeks there is plenty to suggest that Falkirk can be the best of the rest.

Given Falkirk’s form there could be some value in backing Houston’s side to come out on top in the Betting Without Rangers market, which sees the Bairns priced up as 7/4 second favourites, behind the faltering Hibees at 2/5.

Falkirk are next in action against a Dumbarton outfit just one point above the relegation play-off place and at 7/10 to pick up three points against the Sons Houston’s men can be relied upon to extend the gap over Alan Stubbs men.

Houston may have been honoured with the latest Ladbrokes award but it’s clear he won’t be celebrating until the end of the season, by which time his side could have cemented promotion to the top flight.
