Man City v Dynamo Kiev: Aguero can give hosts more breathing space
It would be an odd irony if Manchester City’s most successful Champions League run came in the same year they produced their worst Premier League challenge since qualifying for Europe’s top tournament, but barring a capitulation, the Citizens already have one foot in the last eight.
That victory was just one of three in the last eight for Manuel Pellegrini’s men, although they did win the League Cup final on penalties against Liverpool.
Since entering the Champions League in 2011, only Bayern Munich have scored the three goals that the visitors require at Eastlands, but City have come a long way since those early forays.
Nevertheless, Pellegrini will be keen to ensure a comfortable night in east Manchester, and a strong team looks set to take to the pitch.
Despite his blank versus the Canaries, Aguero has been in sublime form of late, and we’re boosting him to score and Man City to win from Evens to 5/4.
Kiev have since kicked off their domestic campaign following the first-leg, and two victories from two games ensures they head to Manchester in reasonable form.
However they must score three times, and even though this is a year where Leicester are top of the Premier League, Eden Hazard still hasn’t scored a league goal, PSG have already wrapped up the French title in record fashion, City should be safely into the last eight.
They’ll want to do it as smoothly as possible too, with the smaller matter of the Manchester derby looming on Sunday.
