London Calling? Spurs and Chelsea Favourites for Witsel

| 24.03.2016

Highly-rated Belgian midfielder Axel Witsel has made no secret of the fact he wants a new challenge, with a Premier League switch looking the most likely outcome.

Witsel’s current club Zenit St. Petersburg are already eliminated from this season’s Champions League and lie fourth in the Russian Premier League.

There are no shortage of suitors for the one-time Belgian Young Footballer of the Year who lifted the league title with Zenit in 2015, scoring six times along the way.

Having attracted interest from Tottenham and Chelsea, Witsel is 5/2 to head to White Hart Lane and 3/1 to join likely boss Antonio Conte’s ranks at Stamford Bridge.

Stoke City had a failed bid for the player in January and are 10/1 to finally bring Witsel to the club this summer. However, the January signing of Gianelli Imbula may mean the Potters are no longer interested in the 27-year-old.

Elsewhere, we’re offering the same odds on him joining Premier League title favourites Leicester City, who look certain to feature in next season’s Champions League.

Italy looks to be the only other realistic destination for the man with 63 Belgium caps to his name. AC Milan are 7/2 to recruit Witsel while current Serie A leaders Juventus are 6/1 to bring him to Turin.
