Ladbrokes SPFL: Falkirk to take advantage of top two’s absence

The Scottish Cup may have caused a couple of Championship ties to be cancelled, but it’s full steam ahead in League 1 and League 2 for what is set to be another busy weekend of Ladbrokes SPFL action.

With Rangers and Hibernian not playing, Falkirk will be hoping to end the weekend second in the Championship, while Peterhead and Dunfermline bid to maintain winning runs.

Plus there’s a top of the table clash in League 2 as Elgin host East Fife.

Ladbrokes Championship

Having lost just one of their last 17 fixtures – and that was to Rangers – Falkirk look well poised to move second in the table.

The Bairns are 4/11 to win at home to Alloa, with Athletic’s last trip to Falkirk ending in a 5-0 defeat.

Livingston and Dumbarton will both be buoyed by recent results, but Livi’s home run of just two losses in eight home games might give them the edge at 5/4.

Having lost their last three on the road, St Mirren’s away form could hinder them again when they head to Raith.

The hosts are 5/4 for victory against a side which has netted just two goals in its last five games.

Ladbrokes League 1

Peterhead are evens to win a sixth game in succession when they head to Albion, while table-topping Dunfermline are 1/3 to beat Stenhousemuir for the second time in four weeks.

Having won three on the spin, Ayr are 3/5 to win away at a fired up Brechin, who are fresh from a 4-0 success over Forfar last time out.

Airdrie are winless in three, but at 8/5 they could end that run with victory at Cowdenbeath, who have won just one of their last nine fixtures.

The final game of the division sees Stranraer bid to end a four-game winless streak at 10/11 when they host Forfar.

Ladbrokes League 2

All eyes will be on Borough Briggs as table-topping Elgin welcome second-placed East Fife.

The hosts are 20/21 but have won only two of their last five, while the Fifers – 21/10 – had won six from seven before being humbled 3-0 at Queen’s Park last weekend.

The Hampden outfit are 13/20 to beat Berwick, while East Stirling are 21/20 for a second win in succession at home to troubled travellers Montrose.

Annan are 23/20 to beat Barry Ferguson’s Clyde (9/5) and Stirling are also 23/20 to win at home to Arbroath.
