Harry Kane runaway pick to start against Germany

Harry Kane’s form for Tottenham makes him the obvious choice to start up front for England when the Three Lions travel to Berlin to take on Germany this weekend.

That is according to the latest Ladbrokes poll which asked Twitter fans to have their say on which of the front runners should get the nod for Hodgson’s men, with Kane emerging as the runaway favourite.

With places up for grabs and the talismanic Wayne Rooney sidelined through injury we asked the social media army to vote for their starter, citing Kane, Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge, Leicester’s  Jamie Vardy and Arsenal forward Danny Welbeck as the options and Kane walked it with a commanding 56 per cent of the votes.

And, with the Tottenham man smashing 24 goals in 43 games for the White Hart Lane outfit already this term it’s easy to see why so many voters were swayed by the 22-year-old.

Vardy was the clear choice in second place with 27 per cent and after his record-breaking run this season the Foxes front man has certainly earned his place in the squad and could be a nuisance for Die Mannschaft to cope with.

There was little to choose between Sturridge and Welbeck, with both men seemingly hurt by their lack of domestic action this season.

However, the Kop favourite edged the voting with nine per cent while Welbeck, who actually boasts an impressive record for the Three Lions [picked up the wooden spoon with eight per cent.

England go into their friendly with the Germans as 9/2 outsiders, with the hosts on at 8/13 and draw available at 11/4 but should Kane get the nod and deliver on odds of 7/1 to open the scoring the visitors could well pick up a confidence boosting victory ahead of this summer’s European Championships in France.
