Fantasy Football: High-scoring Gut Truster eyeing more glory

Come on, own up. Did you forget to change your Fantasy Football team before the last round of Premier League fixtures?
Either that or you ran out of free transfers because judging by Gameweek 27’s point totals, it was a pretty miserly affair for those who couldn’t be bothered to swap out their Man City, Liverpool, Everton or Newcastle players.
Still, one chap who made a decent fist of things was our very own Gut Truster. And he’s hungry for more.
Here’s your extra special dose of action as the Ladbrokes Life League prepares for another exciting set of twists and turns.

My lads smashed the 33-point average this week with a respectable 49-point haul. A great display from Adrian brought me a nice added bonus against the others.
Other than that, it was normal service resumed as Ozil and Vardy picked up points.
The changes I’m making for the latest midweek round are as expected with Aguero and Barkley coming back in. Everton have had a nice extra rest, and should be refreshed for their visit to Villa Park, while Man City would like to add to their cup exploits by sinking Liverpool in the league.
Out comes Smalling and Amrabat, the latter looking promising against Bournemouth at the weekend and was unlucky to be subbed early – but I expect Flores’ Hornets to set up differently when they face in-form Man United at Old Trafford on Wednesday.

It’s safe to say it was another poor week of points. 32 points is a shocking return! It’s not time to start panicking just yet but with the games coming thick and fast I need a drastic change in fortune if I’m to catch Mr Brightside who now has a commanding 20-point lead over me.
Giving the captaincy to Payet backfired, the Hammers midfielder failed to reproduce his FA Cup performance and only earned me six points.
In fact, only Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil earned double figures for me last weekend.
It hasn’t been the best of weeks for my team but I’m keeping the faith and won’t be making any transfers, but Wijnaldum comes in for Lanzini and Ozil’s been given the captain’s armband after his strong display against Man United.

A solid performance this week means my lads break away from the chasing pack to lead by 20 points.
In terms of the weekend’s big performers, Adam Smith claimed a clean sheet on his debut, thus proving to be a shrewd bit of business.
Following the Capital One Cup final I’ve had to make some tough calls this week but I believe I’ve made the right calls for the team to generate the most points on Gameweek 28.
Despite Smith’s great debut he drops down to the bench so that the three who have played together all season start at the back.
The impressive Dele Alli is the man to miss out in midfield. He’s carrying a slight knock and faces a tough test at the Boleyn on Wednesday night. Firmino and Aguero come back in and following Sunday’s final there could be some tired legs meaning an open game match between Liverpool and Man City and that should equal plenty of goals.

A total of 38 points ensured an above average haul last weekend but it wasn’t enough to close the gap between third and fourth.
Besides Mesut Ozil and Robert Huth who brought in a combined 17 points, my team were pretty disappointing.
Odion Ighalo has been struggling to find the back of the net recently and hasn’t scored in his last five games. Meanwhile, Harry Kane and Dele Alli made life difficult for themselves against Swansea and barely rescued all three points.
For that reason I’m going to switch out my strikers for this Gameweek and bring in Diego Costa and Jamie Vardy to replace the aforementioned Ighalo and Kane.
Costa looks like he’s back to best with three goals and three assists in his last five games.
Meanwhile, Vardy is following the same suit with four goals and one assist in his last five, making them both perfect additions to a stuttering Statletico Madrid.

It wasn’t a terrible weekend for my team considering all the changes that were forced upon me but it should be business as usual from now on for the Believers!
Aguero and Barkley come back into the side and I switch the formation back to an attacking 3-4-3.
I’ve lost a bit of trust in Ighalo and with Watford’s season hypothetically finished I don’t see the Nigerian adding to his goal tally. I’m also going with a new strategy when it comes to my forwards – pick whoever is playing Villa.
This week It’s the turn of Everton and Lukaku and I’m beyond confident that he’ll net at least twice against the bottom-dwellers.
And finally, a back four of Monreal, Fonte and Alderweireld means Dier and Smith miss out.
