Exclusive – Emile Heskey: Leicester’s stars are going nowhere

Emile Heskey reckons Jamie Vardy and the rest of Leicester’s stars will reject all offers to move elsewhere this summer.
The Foxes legend spoke exclusively to Ladbrokes and doesn’t see why any of Claudio Ranieri’s heroes would want to move.
“Leicester’s team are going places so it would be silly for them to think they need to leave to go to any other team,” the ex-England man said.
“There are opportunities here, and they’ve got the opportunity to do something really special here,” he added.
Speculation has surrounded the future of Vardy, star winger Riyad Mahrez, plus unsung heroes Danny Drinkwater, N’Golo Kante and Kasper Schmeichel, but Heskey has warned that the grass isn’t always greener.
“There’s a team being built here at this moment in time. If you leave you’ve got the possibility of going to a team that you might not play at, whereas you know that you’ve got opportunities to play here at Leicester.”
Leicester moved one step closer to a famous Premier League title after Shinji Okazaki’s overhead kick saw them beat Newcastle 1-0 to re-establish their five-point lead over Tottenham.
Having been playing League 1 football just seven seasons ago, the Foxes are 4/5 favourites to lift the Premier League trophy in May, and Heskey also fancies a few of their stars to feature strongly in the end of season awards.
“Vardy and Mahrez are favourites for the PFA player of the year award for me. Kante should definitely make the team of the year as well.”
The heroics from Ranieri’s men this season has taken the City by storm, and local lad Heskey knows exactly how much it means to them.
He said: “For the City of Leicester it would be fantastic, for what they’ve gone through over the years, this will be great for them if they did end the season with some silverware.
“Regardless of that, it has been a wonderful season for them and they’ve got to be so pleased and happy with what they’ve achieved so far,” he added.
