Don’t expect clean sheets when Palace host Leicester

Published:

The last three meetings between Leicester and Crystal Palace have seen wins to nil, but given the two sides’ recent form, don’t expect either goalkeeper to be keeping a clean sheet this weekend.

Claudio Ranieri’s Foxes head to Crystal Palace looking to at least maintain if not extend their five-point lead over Tottenham at the top of the Premier League.

Palace, meanwhile, are plummeting down the table, claiming just four points from the last 36 available in a 12-game winless run.

The Eagles are 2/1 to arrest that form with victory, while the visitors are 29/20 and a draw is 23/10.

But with Alan Pardew’s side conceding 12 goals in their last five home league games, they face a tricky task to stop Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez and the rest.

Leicester have netted in every away game bar one this term, but have also seen their host opponents score in five of the last seven.

With both teams finding the goal in all of Palace’s last four home games, the statistical gods are guiding us rather strongly to the 17/20 on both keepers to be beaten this Saturday.

Six of the last eight at Selhurst Park have seen over 2.5 goals, and when the division’s joint-top scorers are in town, getting on the 11/10 for another over 2.5 encounter could be savvy.

The last two meetings have ended 1-0, and Leicester’s most recent trip to south London saw Palace run out 2-0 winners, but these aren’t two teams to back on history, with recent form likely to be a much more accurate indicator of results.
