Crunch time begins right now for fired up Swansea

While all the attention focused on Arsenal after Swansea’s 2-1 win at the Emirates on Wednesday, the result went a big way to securing the Welsh side’s place in next season’s Premier League.

There’s no doubt the Swans rode their luck at times in the capital, but those three points mean they have a six-point gap to the drop zone with 10 games to go.

And a quick look at their upcoming fixtures shows that Francesco Guidolin’s men can go a long way to avoiding the drop sooner rather than later.

The Liberty Stadium outfit welcome Norwich this weekend, and with the Canaries plummeting with one point from eight games, Swansea will be out for more success.

The hosts are 21/20 favourites for the match, with Alex Neil’s visitors outsiders at 3/1.

A trip to Bournemouth awaits in a week’s time, before Aston Villa head to south Wales in a fortnight.

The next three games represent a huge chance to make substantial inroads into their Premier League survival.

With the Swans already on 30 points, and this year’s safe level looking to be no more than 36 points, it’s well within the realms of possibility that Ashley Williams and co could guarantee their spot in the top tier long before March is over.

After the Villa match however, seven of Swansea’s eight remaining fixtures see them play teams in the top half of the table, so the pressure is on for the club to pick up points soon.

React to that pressure now and get those points, and the Swans could still salvage a respectable mid-table finish this term.

Buckle under it however, and that nasty run in versus most of the top half will suddenly look all too daunting.
