Cheltenham: Blaklion ready to roar for our Lucky 15 backers

Published:

So, how was your opening day at Cheltenham? Hopefully you’re quids-in and ready to go for the second installment of this year’s Festival. But even if you were a little unlucky, we’ve got something to put a smile on your face.

Our Ladies Day Longshot Lucky 15 is packed full of exciting outsiders and each-way value ahead of what promises to be another thrilling card.

Selections from the RSA Chase, Coral Cup, Cross Country Chase and Fred Winter all feature.

And without much further ado, here’s your Wednesday quartet…

14:10 – RSA Chase – Blaklion

No More Heroes and More of That have engaged in their own private duel as far as the betting for this contest is concerned.

But we fancy Nigel Twiston-Davies’ upstart Blaklion to come and gate-crash the party. An impressive win in the Towton Novices’ Chase at Wetherby last time out highlighted his credentials.

And while More of That has some sterling course form, our selection has a couple of wins at Presbury Park under his belt too and enough in the tank to give his main rivals something to about.

14:50 – Coral Cup – Rock the Kasbah

The Phillip Hobbs team have laid out Rock the Kasbah for this crack at the Coral Cup and we’re with them all the way.

On the two previous occasions the six-year-old has been up against a big field he hasn’t been fazed with his victory in the Holloway’s Handicap Hurdle at Ascot last time out particularly impressive.

He’s in peak form and raring to go.

16:10 – Cross Country Chase – Ballyboker Bridge

As the old cliché goes, it’s always wise to look for one with Cross Country experience when weighing up your options for this unique race.

That rules out a few but not Ballyboker Bridge who looks a strong contender to make the frame.

Granted, you have to temper his January victory over the likes of Cantlow with the fact that market leader Jossies Orders handed him a 14L defeat in the December edition of this contest.

But as an each-way shot there are few better to give you a run for your money.

16:50 – Fred Winter Juvenile Handicap – Messire Des Obeaux

This is by no means an easy race to unpick but Alan King’s Messire Des Obeaux has been generating a fair bit of noise.

One of a number of French imports set to take part, his only previous appearance on a British racetrack resulted in a keen showing at Haydock last month.

He’ll be stronger for that run and at the current prices we see plenty to like about this four-year-old.

Don’t forget to check out the huge range of juicy offers that’ll be running throughout the Festival.
