Brook v Bizier: Special K to prove he’s rightful heir to Mayweather throne

IBF Welterweight champion Kell Brook defends his title against mandatory challenger Kevin Bizier this weekend and the fight should be the last of its kind for Special K.
That is the opinion of Carl Frcoh, who claims Brook is good enough to dominate the Welterweight division and fill the void left by the now-retired Floyd Mayweather Jr.
The Cobra says that while a mandatory challenger should never be underestimate the time has come for Brook to step his career up a gear and finally deliver on his potential.
Out of the ring incidents, injury and boxing politics have scuppered Brook’s chances to elevate his status in the last year but Froch believes a solid showing against the Canadian in Sheffield can set up some lucrative and career-defining bouts for the 29-year-old.
“Brook is sharp, fast, hits hard and when he’s on his A-game, he really is a formidable force. He is such an exciting fighter, he could beat anyone,” Froch told Sky Sports.
“I am not saying he is as good as Mayweather because no one can dispute Floyd’s greatness, but look down that welterweight list – Kell is good enough to beat any of them.
“People always say Mayweather picked his times perfectly, but even if he did, look down his record and I can’t see anyone Kell couldn’t beat – now or back then.”
Brook is expected to come through Saturday’s challenge with relative ease and is priced up at 1/33 to retain his belt.
Bizier can be backed at 12/1 to cause an upset , with the draw on at 33/1, but with the Cobra’s comments ringing in his ears the Brit will be going all out to put in an impressive performance so it could pay to take the 16/1 on a first round knock-out for Special K, while the 40/1 on Brook to oblige in the ‘Gone in 60 Second’ special market could also appeal.
