Warren Gatland’s Wales boosted for Six Nations glory

After seeing their World Cup attempt ravaged by injury, Wales will be going all out for Six Nations glory this spring.
The Dragons were tipped as the northern hemisphere’s best hope in the World Cup, but injuries eventually took their toll and Warren Gatland’s men went out to a late South Africa try in the quarter-finals.
Having had time to heel however, Wales will be major players for a first Six Nations crown since 2013, and maybe even a first Grand Slam since 2012.
Only points difference denied them last year in a thrilling final day showdown with England and eventual victors Ireland.
And ahead of this weekend’s opening round of fixtures, Ladbrokes are boosting Wales to win this year’s Six Nations to 10/3 for a limited time only.*
Wales come in to this spring’s tournament with arguably the most settled squad and manager, and that could stand them in good stead.
This year’s competition looks set to be wide-open, with Scotland and Italy having reasons to be confident, so any advantage a nation can find will be crucial.
The injuries suffered by the Welsh during the autumn denied us all the chance to see what they’re really made of, but they’re in good shape to make up for that over the next six weeks.
Furthermore, history suggests Wales often come good soon after a World Cup, having claimed the 2005 title – just two years after the 2003 showpiece, the 2008 crown straight after the 2007 World Cup, and both of the the 2012 and 2013 Six Nations championships immediately following the 2011 world event.
They’ll need to come out of the blocks quickly though as Wales open their campaign in Dublin this Sunday against an Irish side looking for a third successive Six Nations title.
The visitors are 11/8 to begin with a humbling of the Irish at the Aviva, with the hosts 8/13 for victory on the opening weekend.
