Wantaway PSG star is the hero Man Utd need

Edinson Cavani’s potential move to Manchester United has received a big boost after an endorsement from a trustworthy source.

The Paris Saint-Germain striker’s father has revealed where his son would favour moving and, in classic embarrassing-dad mode, also had a dig at his son’s current employers.

“Zlatan is not willing to play on the wings. So they gave up on Edinson. PSG themselves. It will be difficult for Edinson in the Champions League this season.

“Edinson is suffering at PSG. If they let him play as the number nine he will be happy.

“I would like to see him play for Real Madrid, Man Utd or Juventus,” he said.

Luis Cavani would clearly be happy to see his progeny stepping out at Old Trafford and Red Devils fans should share this excitement.

The Uruguayan forward is lethal in front of goal, especially when he’s not forced out wide like he has been with the Ligue 1 leaders.

During his time at Napoli, the 29-year-old scored 104 goals in 138 appearances across all competitions and never failed to register at least 30 times in a season.

Even his time in Paris has been fruitful despite being overshadowed by Zlatan, with Cavani racking up 70 strikes in 127 matches over his entire PSG career.

Clearly any club would benefit from bringing in a goalscorer of this calibre, but the Red Devils in particular are crying out for a player in this mould.

Louis van Gaal’s men have found the net less than any other team in the Premier League’s top eight and no one has shone in the scoring department.

Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial are United’s joint most capable goal getters boasting a less-than-prolific seven.

A new focal point in the shape of Cavani would allow the Old Trafford outfit’s creative players to focus on making chances that the Uruguayan would surely put away and the 13-time Premier League champions would get to see the best of the likes of Juan Mata and Memphis Depay.
