Twitter pours cold water on Arsenal’s hopes of a title triumph

They may be 15/8 favourites to lift the Premier League trophy in May, but according to Twitter, the bookmakers have got it wrong and Arsenal will not be ending their wait for another title any time soon.

Victory over Leicester next weekend would see Arsene Wenger’s men cut the gap to two points on Claudio Ranieri’s Foxes and potentially hand the momentum to the London side.

They might have work to do to catch the East Midlands outfit but that hasnt stopped the bookies just making the Gunners favourites to land the spoils.

It’s been 12 years since a north London captain got his hands on the trophy, so Ladbrokes put it to social media as to whether it would be their year, and the results were not pretty for Wenger and co.

Of those who answered 64 per cent had the opinion that regardless of the failings of Chelsea and to a lesser extent Manchester United this term, a Gunners title charge is doomed to failure.

You don’t need a calculator to work out that the remaining 36 per cent said that there was a chance that the Gooners could be celebrating their 14th title triumph in their history.

The next month could be telling for their chances with a visit of leaders Leicester preceding trips to both Manchester United and Tottenham.

Come out with a solid return from that trio of games and their odds for a Premier League triumph will surely be slashed further.

Victory against Bournemouth was Arsenal’s first league success in four matches, and according to the social masses, that lull in form could be the defining factor in them missing out once again.
