Tottenham favourites to rescue injury-hit Daniel Sturridge

Tottenham Hotspur have emerged as favourites to offer Daniel Sturridge a Premier League lifeline should he decide to leave Anfield.

Reports this morning suggest the Liverpool striker has grown fed-up of criticism regarding his injury-hit Reds career and it’s alleged the England star will look to jump ship when the transfer window re-opens this summer.

Ladbrokes still think the former Chelsea and Manchester City man will stay put, with odds of 1/2 he is a Liverpool player at the start of the 2016-17 campaign but should he leave it is Spurs who look most likely to capitalise.

The White Hart Lane club have been installed as 7/2 favourites to be Sturridge’s next club, while Arsenal and West Ham – both recently linked with the forward – can be backed at 5/1 apiece.

Newcastle (7/1), Leicester (7/1) and Stoke (7/1) are next in the betting with a return to Stamford Bridge on at 8/1.

However, with a growing number of players looking to make a fortune in America and the Far East it is 8/1 Sturridge signs for any Chinese team next and 10/1 he follows the likes of David Beckham, Frank Lampard and Andy Cole to join any MLS side.

While injuries have limited Sturridge’s game time this season, the bookmaker is convinced he is still in Roy Hodgson’s thoughts with a price of 4/7 indicating he will be named in the England boss’s squad for Euro 2016 this summer and at 9/2 to start the Three Lions’ first game it’s clear the likes of Jamie Vardy and Harry Kane have serious competition.
