Top 5 unlikely football fans: Rapper The Game makes the list

Published:

Football is littered with celebrity fans from the diehard Hammers like Ray Winstone and Russell Brand to fair-weather fakers like ‘Aston Villa nut’ David Cameron.

However, while most of these connections are easy to make, Brand and Winstone are east end men after all, there are some famous fans that have come out of left field.

We’ve seen Michael Jackson rock up at Exeter’s St James Park, Seth Rogen adopt AFC Bournemouth and Man v Food’s Adam Richman well up at White Hart Lane over the years but some links are even more absurd.

Here’s Ladbrokes News top 5 unlikely football fans, kicking off with an American rapper who may just have let the colour of his side’s shirt make his mind up for him…

The Game – Arsenal

As a leading purveyor of Gangsta Rap and a self-proclaimed member of the notorious Bloods gang in LA it was always unlikely that the How We Do rapper would be seen rocking a Chelsea strip on any visit to London.

Having nailed his colours to the mast with his California connections The Game opted for the red of Arsenal while on stage in Kentish Town at the weekend. Rumours that The Game will get a game for the reserves are as yet unproven.

Triple H – West Ham

WWE stalwart Triple H was born in New Hampshire and could be forgiven for not knowing where east London is so it came as a huge surprise to learn of his affinity to the Irons.

After professing his love for the Claret and Blue the wrestler was quickly called out by Hammers striker Andy Carroll who offered to team up with UFC star Conor McGregor to take on Triple H and Seamus. Given Carroll’s injury record, though, we’re not sure this is wise.

Tom Hanks – Aston Villa

The star of Forrest Gump is more likely to be seen in Birmingham, Alabama than Birmingham in the West Midlands but after seeing Villa play the Portland Timbers on a pre-season tour in the US the star of Castaway and Saving Private Ryan had found his team.

The actor has since revealed that the name Aston Villa had him dreaming of an idyllic island setting so we’d love to see his face when he rocks up on Witton Lane!

Hugh Jackman – Norwich City

Australian Wolverine star Jackman has family in the Norfolk area and was once taken to watch the Canaries at Carrow Road by his mum, leading to the club inviting him on board to be a small part-owner.

The X Men actor turned down the offer but after seeing the Canaries break into the Premier League the 47-year-old has revealed his regret at not taking up the opportunity. Could a cash injection from the Hollywood A Lister prevent a slide back into the Championship? (Ed – probably not).

Mike Myers – Liverpool

Ever wonder how Canadian funny man Myers got his Austin Powers accent spot-on? Well with his family hailing from Merseyside it wasn’t actually too much of a stretch for the former Saturday Night Live man to tap into a trans-Atlantic drawl.

While far from a regular at Anfield the Shrek star is often seen donning a Reds shirt and scarf and rarely misses a chance to catch his team live when they are Stateside.
