Swansea can take advantage of tired and wounded Tottenham

Swansea may seem a large price at 13/2 to win away at Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, but they might just be the value pick of the weekend’s Premier League fixtures.

The Swans have picked up just two points from their last three games, after opening Francesco Guidolin’s reign at the Welsh club with victory at Everton last month.

They remain in danger of relegation, just three points above the drop zone and a not-so-safe 7/2 price to play Championship football next term.

An away trip to title-chasing Tottenham may not seem ideal, but there’s reason to believe the Swans could get something out of the game.

The 13/2 on a Swansea win may seem long, while 16/5 on the draw doesn’t offer much hope against the 4/9 favourites either, but the wheels may be starting to come off the Spurs title charge.

Maurico Pochettino’s men have won their last five Premier League games, but they’re also in Europa League action this week at home to a Fiorentina side going well in Serie A.

Spurs have long-since had time to adapt to the rigours of Thursday night football, but this season they’ve struggled to combine domestic and European duties.

The north Londoners have failed to win four of their last five league contests immediately following Europa League excursions, and that includes each of the last three.

With Harry Kane and Mousa Dembele out of this week’s clash with the Italian side, the duo are both doubtful to appear on Sunday afternoon at the Lane, while Jan Vertonghen is also out.

Hugo Lloris will only be making his return from injury on Thursday night, and it’s pretty clear that the core of Pochettino’s small squad is beginning to feel the force of an extensive campaign.

The white half of north London will have played 39 fixtures before Swansea come to the capital, while the visitors will have played a full 10 matches fewer.

In effect, Tottenham have already completed a full league campaign, and there’s still almost three months to go.

The league table says back Spurs, but don’t be surprised if their winning run comes to an end this Sunday against the Welsh club.
