Ronny Deila named Ladbrokes Premiership Manager of the Month

Celtic boss Ronny Deila has been named Ladbrokes Premiership Manager of the Month after steering the Bhoys to four wins from four in January.

The Hoops got the ball rolling with a narrow 1-0 victory over Partick on January 2 but took things up a gear when beating Dundee United 4-1 next time out.

The 8-1 hammering of Hamilton followed and the 3-1 triumph over St Johnstone sealed a perfect month for the Parkhead side.

The irony of picking up an award on the back of a defeat – Celtic lost their Scottish League Cup semi-final 3-1 to Ross County – was not lost on Deila but the Norwegian is looking forward to some good times ahead.

“Our form was very good for 30 days but we are disappointed about the weekend,” he said.

“The they have improved a lot lately and this award is a reflection of that and should go to the whole group – not just me.”

It’s not the first time we have accepted an award after a bad result but in the league we have been good and scored a lot of goals so I am happy with that.”

The award comes hot on the heels of transfer deadline day, a day which saw Deila land Turkish striker Colin Kazim-Richards.

The Bhoys gaffer believes the former Sheffield United, Fenerbahce and Feyenoord man offers something different up front and could stand the Hoops in good stead in Europe going forward.

“Kazim is an experienced player who has lots of good qualities and can be a leader in the group for us,” he added.

“He is very physical and very strong and he will keep the ball up well. He also has the personality to lead with a lot of younger players around him. We think he will suit the style of play here to help us both in the league and take us forward in Europe.”
