Queen’s Park hoping happy away days can continue tonight

Queen’s Park head across the border to Berwick Rangers this evening, and given their recent form on the road they’ll be confident of returning to Glasgow with a point or three.
The Spiders lost six of their opening 12 fixtures in Ladbrokes League 2 this term, but have been beaten just twice in the subsequent dozen matches.
Queen’s are unbeaten on the road since early November, conjuring four wins and two draws in their six matches since defeat at East Stirlingshire.
The team’s staunch defence has been beaten just nine times away from Hampden Park, and Gus MacPherson’s men have by far the best away record in the division.
A win tonight would move Queen’s to just three points off top spot with a game in hand on East Fife.
Their recent form seemed to desert them prior to last weekend when they were downed 3-0 by November foes East Stirling, but the response versus Arbroath delighted the Spiders manager.
“I thought the result was excellent and deserved,” MacPherson said.
“The players came in for some strong criticism following the East Stirlingshire game, and that was probably the first occasion in a long time that criticism to that level has been aimed at them,” he added.
The visitors are 13/10 favourites for victory this evening at Shielfield Park, with Rangers a 21/10 price.
Berwick have prevailed 1-0 in each of the pair’s two meetings so far this season, but with the hosts losing four of their last six fixtures, the formbook states an end to their recent success over the Glaswegian side is imminent.
The league leading Fifers will certainly have one eye on the score at the Borderers tonight, with Gary Naysmith’s men heading to Hampden Park this weekend in a match which could go a long way to deciding this season’s title.
Should the Spiders spin a web on their opponents and come away from their next two games with six points however, you can surely expect their 11/2 title odds to come tumbling down.
