Premier League odds-on to see Chinese exodus this summer

Published:

China’s recent surge in big-money signings looks set to continue and the Premier League looks to be a prime target for more deals this summer.

Midfielder Ramires made a £25m switch from Chelsea to Jiangsu Suning while Atletico Madrid’s Jackson Martinez made a £45m move to Guangzhou last week.

Long-term Liverpool target Alex Teixeira also packed up and left Europe to join Ramires at Jiangsu.

A host of other players have been linked with a big-money move East, and Ladbrokes are 1/2 that more than five Premier League players jump ship this summer.

Meanwhile the bookies are 4/1 that a Chinese Super League team breaks the World transfer record in the next two years.

And with China’s ambitions seemingly endless, even the thought of Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo saying goodbye to Spain and heading for the Eastern sun is a 6/1 shot.

Should both of football’s superstars find themselves wooed by China, Ladbrokes are 50s that a Chinese Super League team manages to sign up Messi and Ronaldo to play in the same side.

One can only imagine the number of goals Messi or Ronaldo could score in the world’s fourth biggest country, and it’s 25/1 that either of them claim the top goalscorer gong in China.

A Ladbrokes News spokesperson said: “China are upsetting the apple cart with their big-spending antics, but it isn’t going to end soon and an exodus of Premier League stars this summer looks all but certain.”

China’s football investment isn’t ending anytime soon, and clubs across Europe will be sleeping with one eye open this summer.
