Peterhead hitman is Ladbrokes League 1 Player of the Month

Peterhead striker Shane Sutherland has been named Ladbrokes League 1 Player of the Month for January following a string of impressive displays.

The 25-year-old hitman bagged four goals in as many games to help further the Blue Toon’s 12-match unbeaten run and close the gap on leaders Dunfermline to eight points.

Speaking exclusively to Ladbrokes News, Sutherland said: “It’s great to get recognised individually. Personally, things are going well, but collectively, as a team, we’ve had a great 12 games.

“The boys are happy and you can tell we’re on a great run.

“But we’re grounded at the same time – we know Dunfermline are eight points ahead with a game in hand, they’re full-time and they’re a good team so it’ll be very hard to claw them back.

“We’ll do our best to try and win each game as it comes and see where we are come the end of the season.”

Title sponsors Ladbrokes have Peterhead at 16/1 to overhaul Dunfermline to become League 1 champions at the end of the season.

Sutherland and co. will next be in action on Saturday when they face Forfar with the Balmoor side priced at 2/5 to take all three points and continue their strong run of form.
