Manchester United fans continue to call for Jose Mourinho

He may be a controversial character but it appears most Manchester United fans are delighted with the prospect of Jose Mourinho taking charge at Old Trafford.

With ‘The Special One’ now 1/5 to take over from Louis van Gaal it’s looking more and more likely that the former Chelsea boss will be in the dugout at the Theatre of Dreams next season.

Ladbrokes put it to social media to gauge the reaction of the Red Devils fans, and the response was fairly positive for the Portuguese gaffer.

Of those who responded a total of 66 per cent said United should do all they can to get him in and ditch LVG in the north west while just 34 per cent thought the opposite.

If Mourinho was to land the gig, he is expected to be busy in the summer transfer market with Ladbrokes offering odds of 4/6 that United sign more players than their cross-city rivals at the Etihad.

And the odds suggest that it will be a raid of Pep Guardiola’s former club that get’s Mourinho off to the best start with the red half of Manchester.

Neymar is 10/1 favourite to be Mourinho’s first signing should he be given the job in a swoop that would undoubtedly see the betting for the 2016-17 Premier League season heat up.

Next in the betting is a renewal for both the club and the manager with Cristiano Ronaldo a 12/1 shout ahead of the 14/1 trio of Sevilla’s Ever Banega, Nicolas Gaitan of Benfica and Mauro Icardi of Inter Milan.

Whoever he gets in United fans will be hoping for a better season than the current campaign with Ladbrokes making it a 13/8 chance that Mourinho marks his first season at the club with a trophy.
