Man City to stop Liverpool rot in Capital One Cup final

Published:

Liverpool and Manchester City will both be heading to the Capital One Cup final with high hopes that they can emerge from Wembley with the first piece of silverware of the season.

Neither is coming in to the game with particularly stellar form so they will looking for a morale boost to help impact the rest of their campaign.

The Citizens have lost three of the last four across all competitions, including a 2-1 loss to Tottenham Hotspur that could be crucial in the Premier League title race.

Meanwhile, the Reds have only emerged victorious in two of their last eight across all competitions and have been knocked out of the FA Cup by West Ham.

Jurgen Klopp will be encouraged by how his side have fared against their cup final opponents in recent games.

The Merseysiders have back to back victories against Manuel Pellegrini’s team including a 4-1 romp when they last met.

However, this may not be as positive as it would first appear and it would be wise to back the blue side of Manchester to be celebrating by the end of Sunday at 8/13.

Neither of these north-west giants have won three-in-a-row against the other since Liverpool managed to do so back in the 2005/06 season.

This was back before City had the wealth they have become so accustomed to so you can expect to see them end the Merseyside dominance.

Punters looking to cash in on other markets should invest in both teams to score at 4/6 given the recent goal happy nature of meetings between the pair, adding City to win in to that bet is priced at 4/1.

The last eight encounters has seen both sides register and in total they have found the net 32 times in that run.

That’s an average of four goals a games, so backing over 3.5 goals at 9/4 would also be a wise move.
