Other Leicester fans are holding out for potential winnings of £250,000, £100,000 and £33,000 should Claudio Ranieri’s men claim an unlikely Premier League title this year.
But for this particular Foxes fanatic, a grand which pretty much came for free, but he’s happy with his choice.
“Over a grand is too good an offer to turn down and it will go towards trains and tickets to follow Leicester chase the dream in the title run in,” the supporter said.
“Football isn’t cheap these days and the feeling of winning the league will be priceless anyway,” he added.
The supporter also admitted that he didn’t want to go public on the windfall with Valentine’s Day around the corner; “I’d rather keep the cash for football than have my girlfriend find out. I might stretch to 12 roses instead of 6 though.”
Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “The first of the long-odds Leicester backers has cashed out enough to cover the cost of several away days from an investment far less than the price of a programme.”
If the early winnings cover the cost of getting to the decisive matches it will surely feel like the right decision even if the Foxes go all the way.”
