Ladbrokes SPFL: Hibs miss chance as Rangers held by Alloa

With no cup activity and some decent weather, the Ladbrokes SPFL finally enjoyed a full fixture list which drew up plenty of eye-catching results up and down the leagues.
The top three in the second tier all failed to win, while four of the five fixtures in League 1 saw over four goals.
And in League 2, we’re beginning to witness a pair of runaway leaders.
Here’s your round-up of the weekend’s action…
Championship
The surprise result of the weekend saw Alloa hold league leaders Rangers to a 1-1 draw.
It was nearly so much better for the Wasps, who looked on course for a famous victory after Jason Marr put the hosts ahead.
Michael O’Halloran denied Jack Ross’ men however with a leveller inside the final 10 minutes.
That result meant Hibernian could close the gap to six points with a game in hand, but Alan Stubbs’ men were held to a goalless draw by Livingston.
Elsewhere, Falkirk and Raith played out an entertaining 2-2 draw, and there were home wins to nil for Morton and Queen of the South over Dumbarton and St Mirren respectively.
League 1
The goals were flying in this week in League 1, with Dunfermline and Peterhead pushed hard for home wins.
The Pars came from 2-0 down to prevail 3-2 against Ayr United, while the Blue Toon came from 2-1 down and a man down after half an hour to see off Forfar by the same scoreline.
The result kept the gap at the top to eight points, while Stenhousemuir also got in on the 3-2 bandwagon as an injury-time winner from Jamie McCormack downed 10-man Airdrie.
Goals were in demand at Glebe Park too as Scott Shepherd’s 94th-minute effort ensured a share of the spoils for Brechin and Cowdenbeath in a 2-2 affair.
That left Stranraer versus Albion but the goals had clearly dried up with the two sides playing out a goalless draw.
League 2
The fourth tier has been an unpredictable beast this term, but a trend has merged in recent weeks with Elgin and East Fife putting some daylight between themselves and the chasing pack.
City maintained their place at the top by consigning Barry Ferguson’s Clyde to a fifth successive defeat in a fiery encounter.
Craig Gunn’s fourth-minute penalty was the only goal of a game which saw three red cards.
Gary Naysmith’s Fifers kept up the pressure though with a 2-1 win at home to Arbroath, and there’s now a six-point gap between second and third.
Stirling Albion moved above Queen’s Park on goals scored thanks to a 2-1 victory at home to Berwick, while Queen’s were downed 3-0 by East Stirling.
Lastly, Annan and Montrose produced arguably the most entertaining game of the weekend, as two goals in the final eight minutes ensured the Gable Endies left Galabank with a point in a 3-3 draw.
