Ladbrokes Premiership: Aberdeen to keep pace with Celtic

Published:

The race to be crowned Ladbrokes Premiership champions is heating up and there will be no room for slip-ups on Celtic’s behalf this weekend, with second-place Aberdeen primed to maintain their winning run.

The bottom of the table is just as intriguing too, with Dundee United showing signs of life and a host of other clubs battling to avoid the drop.

After a couple of weeks affected by bad weather and cup activity we’re back to a full quota of matches in the Scottish top flight and here’s everything you need to know ahead of this weekend’s fixtures.

Celtic v Ross County

Having gone 10 games without defeat against Ross County before their recent League Cup clash Celtic would have been confident of extending their lead at the top of the table with a routine win over the Staggies. However, after going down 3-1 in the semi-final the seed of doubt has been sewn, especially with the Bhoys losing to Aberdeen last time out.

However, with County losing three of their last four in the league Ronny Deila’s side can be expected to deliver an immediate return to winning ways in front of their own fans.

Best bet: Celtic (-2) @ 7/4

Hamilton v Dundee United

The Terrors’ survival hopes had all been written off until their 5-1 mauling of Kilmarnock last time out.

With Hamilton winning the last two meetings the confidence gained from that victory will be put to the test but with United unbeaten in seven clashes before and Mixu Paatelainen’s men know how to get a result against the Accies.

The hosts have won just one of their last five and could be dragged back into the relegation mire if the Terrors can build on their emphatic win.

Best Bet: Dundee United @ 7/5

Hearts v Partick Thistle

Hearts won both of the meetings between these two last year with an aggregate score of 7-0 so will expect more of the same this time round.

The Jambos are unbeaten in their last seven games, while the Jags have won just one of their last five, hardly the form to turn the tide in this encounter.

Best Bet: Hearts to win 3-0 @ 14/1

Motherwell v Kilmarnock

This relegation six-pointer sees both clubs come into the tie on the back of a defeat but with the home crowd behind them and a superior head-to-head record it is Well who look most likely to put distance between themselves and the play-off spot.

Mark McGhee’s men have won five and drawn one of the last six clashes and should be good value for the win this weekend.

Best Bet: Motherwell (-1) @ 21/10

Inverness CT v Aberdeen

The Dons are in rude health, reeling off four successive wins invading a vital 2-1 victory over Celtic last time out.

Caley have been a thorn in Derek McInnes’ side of late, drawing the last meeting 2-2 and winning the previous encounter 2-1. However, with that victory being Thistle’s only win in eight clashes normal service should be resumed.

Best bet: Aberdeen @ 10/11
