Ladbrokes Championship: Top meets bottom as Rangers face Alloa
With the weather and cup activities stepping aside for the first time in weeks, the Ladbrokes SPFL is set to enjoy a full house of matches this weekend.
Rangers can extend their lead at the top of the Ladbrokes Championship when they head to bottom side Alloa, with title-rivals Hibernian playing Livingston in the evening kick-off.
Third-placed Falkirk will hope to return to winning ways at home to Raith, while St Mirren eye a third-straight win at Queen of the South.
Here’s your guide to the weekend’s action…
Alloa v Rangers
In the two previous meetings between these sides, Rangers ran out 5-1 and 4-0 victors, and Mark Warburton’s men are seeking a seventh-successive league win.
Alloa have picked up form a little of late winning two of their last seven, but they’re firmly up against it here despite narrowing the pitch for the visit of the Gers.
Best Bet: Rangers -3 @ 21/10
Falkirk v Raith
Falkirk’s title charge has been stunted lately with two points from three games, although Rangers and Hibernian were opponents in that spell.
Nevertheless Peter Houston’s men haven’t scored more than twice in a game since November, while Raith’s failure to score in their last four league games promises a low-scoring affair.
The Bairns have won both meetings this season, and have lost just once at home this season.
Best Bet: Under 2.5 goals @ 9/5
Morton v Dumbarton
Having won four on the spin across October and November, Morton are winless in two and a half months.
Dumbarton have recorded three wins and two draws since their opponents last tasted victory, but they haven’t scored in three of their last four fixtures.
With Jim Duffy’s hosts netting just six times at Cappielow Park this term, both goalkeepers could be in for a quiet afternoon.
Best Bet: Under 2.5 goals @ 13/10
Queen of the South v St Mirren
Having won four of their last seven, St Mirren are one of the league’s form sides.
Fate has decried they meet Queen of the South in successive weeks, having beaten Queens 1-0 at home last weekend.
That result was only the third in nine games for the Doonhamers, and with both sides picking up points at a decent rate, this should be another close match.
Best Bet: Draw @ 11/4
