Jamie Vardy’s goal was good, but Dele Alli’s was better

Jamie Vardy had a right good go at breaking the internet last night, after the Leicester striker’s wondrous first-time volley against Liverpool, but he won’t be winning goal of the season.

That’s according to Ladbrokes Twitter followers who have voted that Dele Alli’s super strike for Tottenham against Crystal Palace deserves the accolade.

The King Power Stadium erupted into euphoric wonderment as the Vardy’s attempt stormed over a stranded Simon Mignolet to hand Leicester the opening goal of the game.

Vardy grabbed another soon after to seal a 2-0 victory for the Foxes over Jurgen Klopp’s side, and though Leicester still top the table, all people are talking about today is Jamie Vardy.

It wasn’t long last night before people were wondering if they had just witnessed the goal of the season, but it appears the Englishman will be beaten to the award according to Ladbrokes’ latest poll.

Dele Alli’s turn–self-set-up–volley against Crystal Palace just two weeks ago has stormed to victory in today’s poll, which simply asked our Twitter followers who has scored the best goal of the season so far.

Alli claimed 53 per cent of the vote, way ahead of Vardy on 41 per cent.

That left six per cent of you to say another strike deserves the title, with suggestions coming in for Cuco Martina’s outside of the boot beauty for Southampton against Arsenal in December, Anthony Martial’s curling delight for Man United last night, and Matt Ritchie’s sublime chest and volley for Bournemouth against Sunderland back in September.

Each were worthy nominations, and we can’t wait to see who wins the award at the end of the season!
