Guidolin’s Swansea revival can continue against Palace

Published:

Things are beginning to look a little brighter for Swansea City fans, and the Welsh club head into this weekend’s clash with Crystal Palace on a three-game unbeaten run.

New boss Francesco Guidolin has got off to a solid start, leading the Swans to victory in his first game in charge away at Everton, before a draw with West Brom last time out.

After successive away games, the Liberty Stadium hosts Premier League football once more, and there’s every chance the home side could extend their recent run of collecting points.

On Christmas Day Swansea sat a whopping 14 points behind Alan Pardew’s Palace, but a woeful run of form for the Eagles means the gap is now just five.

Swansea are 6/5 favourites to win this weekend, with the south London side 5/2 outsiders, and those prices would have been mightily different six weeks ago.

Palace have lost each of their last five fixtures, and two draws prior to this current run means Pardew’s men are on a seven-game winless streak.

The Eagles have conceded 13 in their last five, while a total of two goals scored in their last seven indicates problems at both ends of the pitch.

The two sides drew 0-0 at Selhurst Park on December 28 – game two of Palace’s seven-game drought – but there is renewed optimism around the Swans which sees them favourites this time around.

Swansea have kept three clean sheets in their last four league contests on home soil, and couple that with Palace’s failure to score in three away matches, maybe have some running for Swansea to keep a clean sheet at 11/8.

Ladbrokes have Swansea at 9/2 to go down this season, and though their recent run has seen those odds grow from around 2/1, a win this weekend at home to struggling visitors would go a long way to easing those relegation fears.
