Fantasy Football: Brightside believes Kane will keep his crown

Published:

The Premier League’s top two clash this weekend and the enormity of Manchester City’s clash with Leicester City certainly hasn’t been lost on the Ladbrokes Life gang.

Like Jamie Vardy and co. our famous five are all pumped up and ready to go for another gameweek, and they’re fully aware of the magnitude of each passing set of fixtures.

Any slip-up now is likely to cost valuable points and possibly the chance to claim those all-important bragging rights.

Generous John knows he’s vulnerable. And Mr Brightside is ready to pounce.

Here’s how our gladiators are preparing their respective teams for battle…

Dele Alli stole the show during the midweek fixtures and moves me one step closer to that top spot.

Will this be the week I rise to the summit?

Three clean sheets out of four is exactly what I’m looking for and I have to pay tribute to the back-line who have been outstanding for me all season. They all remain the same.

Ozil, Willian and Firmino all need to lift it this week if they are to keep their places and I have faith their class will shine through. But now for the big play! Lukaku has failed to find the net in a month so he drops out and in comes the hot Harry Kane following three goals in his last three games.

Will Kane be the King to make it check-mate in this game of chess?

A total of 52 points from a round of fixtures isn’t usually a bad return but when it’s the lowest scoring amongst the other characters it’s not good. The gap is closing at the top and I’m one bad week from being overtaken.

My only change this week sees the injured Joe Gomez make way for Leicester’s Danny Simpson. The weeks are flying by and squad depth is going to be crucial with games coming thick and fast.

With Man United facing Chelsea on Sunday I’m expecting there to be a few goals and for that reason Chris Smalling drops to the bench. Lukaku seems to have taken a knock against Newcastle but I have faith and I’m praying the Toffees frontman will return for this weekend’s fixture.

Aguero will keep the armband for the upcoming clash with Leicester. The Premier League’s top two lock horns on Saturday and with City needing a win to reclaim top spot I can see Aguero being the catalyst for this to happen.

I’ve sensed a change in the wind for my team over the past few weeks. Some big points for Barkley, Mahrez and Aguero is making me believe that the impossible might actually happen.

All the fixtures this week look to be in my favour so I’m expecting another big points haul. Because of my timely run of form I’ve decided to go along with the old saying – “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it”.

I did toy with the idea of bringing Lingard into the team as the United midfielder has impressed me in the last few weeks but with Chelsea up next, he may find it a bit difficult at the Bridge.

Well, playing my Triple Captain didn’t quite go to plan. I perhaps should have waited a bit longer, but hindsight is wonderful thing, isn’t it?

There’s two injury concerns in my starting XI, with both Alli and Lukaku only playing 45 minutes each in midweek.

But I believe my bench is strong enough to step up to the plate should one, or both, not start.

Smalling is always worth a shout for a clean sheet, and Amrabat will be keen to impress at his new club.

The only other change I’ve made is switching the vice-captaincy from Lukaku to Ozil should the Belgian not start at Stoke.

#TheProfessor

I can’t complain about my team’s midweek performance. Dele Alli, Ross Barkley and Harry Kane are proving to be consistent performers.

My defenders did well too though, although picking Hector Bellerin instead of Bacary Sagna would have given me that extra boost.

This week I’m dropping Romelu Lukaku who’s without a goal since December and replacing him with Wayne Rooney who’s scored seven goals in his last seven goals.

Although my Odion Ighalo transfer didn’t pay off immediately he’s shown some promising form and I expect him to bag some points against Tottenham.

I’m confident in this team bringing in some high numbers over the next few weeks.
