Dundee attackers are the best in the league says Paul Hartley

As his side continue to press to secure a top six finish for the first time since 2001, Paul Hartley has used some strong words to describe his Dundee front-line.
The quartet of Kane Hemmings, Gary Harkins, Greg Stewart and Rory Loy were instrumental in helping the Dee take apart St Johnstone in a 2-0 victory last Friday, and Hartley was keen to stress their importance.
“The four guys we have in the forward areas are as good as any in the league on their day,” he told the Evening Telegraph.
“We just give them the freedom to play.
“They are all comfortable on the ball. They will make mistakes from time to time, but they also create chances in the final third.”
The numbers certainly don’t lie when it comes to the four attacking stars on show at Dens Park.
Between them Hemmings, Harkins, Stewart and Loy have netted 32 of the team’s 39 Ladbrokes Premiership goals this term – an impressive 82 per cent of the total.
The former has been in particularly good form of late, bagging 12 goals in his last nine for the east coast club, taking his season tally to 15 for the season.
He remains seven short of leader Leigh Griffiths, but could be an outside interest to some at 28/1 in the Ladbrokes Premiership Top Scorer market.
His boss was keen to single out the former Barnsley man in particular.
“He is a player who is playing with a lot of confidence at the moment,” he said.
“Kane is a natural finisher. He is genuinely two footed. Strikers like him are hard to come by. We are pleased to have someone like him in our team.”
The rest of the Dundee team, as well as the aforementioned four will have to keep up their form in the coming weeks if they are to finish on the right side of the split.
Of their eight remaining games in the regular season, four are against the quartet of teams above them while another will be a highly-competitive derby with the neighbours across the road.
First up is a visit to Rugby Park where Dundee face the proposition of taking on Lee Clark in his first match in charge of Kilmarnock.
The visitors are chalked up at 7/5 for success, and you can probably expect that one of their star attackers will be the ones to thank should they bag three points.
