Carl Frampton v Scott Quigg: Punters backing underdog to come out on top

The hotly-anticipated fight between Carl Frampton and Scott Quigg has been dubbed a genuine 50-50 fight by the media masses, with pundits, ex-pros and fellow fighters claiming the bout is too close to call.
The odds paint a slightly different picture, however, with IBF champion Frampton the 8/13 favourite and WBA belt holder Quigg deemed the underdog at 11/8.
That said, while the odds suggest a win for the Belfast man the betting patterns indicate that the majority of fans expect the Bury man to emerge victorious.
Rather than being evenly-matched some 69 per cent of the bets in the How the Fight Will Be Won market have been placed on Quigg coming out on top.
Quigg winning on points has been the most popular selection in the round betting, with a round eight stoppage and a round six stoppage – both in favour of the Englishman – completing the top three.
Furthermore, the biggest single bet on the fight has seen one punter stake three figures on Quigg to win by KO, TKO or disqualification at 11/1.
A Ladbrokes spokesperson said: “This fight is definitely one for the boxing purists out there and while many bill the bout as a 50-50 scrap the odds and a cross-section of pundits have Frampton down as the rightful favourite.
“It seems the betting public disagree, however, and with the majority of bets coming in for Quigg it seems the smell of a minor upset is in the air.”
