Bournemouth v Everton: Toffees to prevail against much-changed Cherries

Published:

Anyone who witnessed the 3-3 draw Bournemouth and Everton played out earlier in the season will be looking forward to seeing the teams clash once again this weekend.

However, with Cherries manager Eddie Howe firmly focused on keeping his side in the top flight it is likely to be a much-changed Bournemouth side that welcomes the Toffees to Dean Court in the FA Cup.

Roberto Martinez is unlikely to follow suit as the demands of the Goodison Park faithful require that every attempt is made to land a trophy and as such the away side have to be backed here.

Bournemouth have won just one of their last five games at home and while the second string were good enough to see off Birmingham and Portsmouth in the earlier rounds Everton will be approve a much sterner task.

Martinez’s side have lost just one of their last five games on the road and are yet to concede a goal in this competition so far this season.

This is reflected in the odds with the home side billed as 11/5 underdogs, another draw available at 12/5 and the visitors priced up as 6/5 favourites.

Given their tight defensive displays in the competition so far, however it could pay to take the longer odds of 21/10 that say the Toffees will keep another clean sheet.

Benik Afobe has been the main man for Bournemouth since signing for Wolves but the former Arsenal youngster is likely to be rested, making way for Lewis Grabban.

The former Norwich forward has had few chances to repay Howe’s faith since re-signing for the club but at 13/2 is among the frontrunners to open the scoring here.

However, while the Cherries forward has it all to prove he could be operating in the shadow of Romelu Lukaku this weekend.

The giant Belgian remains the Toffees most potent threat but looks good value to open the scoring at 4/1.
