Back table topper Wright to stay there as Premier League hits Scotland

Despite winning all three of his contests so far in the Premier League Peter Wright remains out at 9/1 to top the table after Judgement Night at the end of March, behind three of his competitors.
That price looks outstanding value for ‘Snakebite’ who returns home to Scotland this week to take on Robert Thornton.
And in the form that he is in, you can only imagine that the 2014 World Championship runner-up will take his record to four from four at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre and see that current price disappear.
In his last six meetings with The Thorn, Wright has won five and drawn one and is inserted in Ladbrokes’ betting as an 8/15 chance to maintain his 100 per cent record in the competition.
It appears that Wright is peaking at the right time, with his 7-4 victory over James Wade last week showing the 45-year-old in an excellent light.
He was in stunning form with his doubles, making seven of his 10 attempts including bagging the highest check-out of the round with an excellent 161.
There has been no sign of his tournament jitters that besieged him last year when he seemed to forget how to win when drawing four and losing four of his nine fixtures.
This time round though he has seen off debutant Michael Smith plus Raymond van Barneveld before coming out in front against James Wade in Dublin, bagging the most 180s on the opening night and the highest check-out last week.
Opponent Thornton hasn’t been quite some convincing though, losing both his matches to date.
A 7-0 whitewash against Dave Chisnall preceded a 7-5 loss against Barney, with both performances seeing the Scot achieve the lowest three-dart average on the night.
Another loss looks on the cards against an in-form Wright, one that would see the table-topper enhance his claims for a semi-final place.
Peter Wright makes up one-third of Ladbrokes’ Headline Treble for the action, with a victory for him, Michael van Gerwen and Phil Taylor enhanced to 9/4.
