Arsenal simply ‘have no chance’ of beating Barcelona

Arsene Wenger and his Arsenal side needn’t turn up at the Emirates tonight as they have no chance whatsoever of beating Barcelona in the Champions League.

That is according to the latest Ladbrokes poll which asked the Twitter masses to have their say on whether or not the north Londoners have what it takes to down the Catalan giants.

While some fans feel Wenger could have a trick up his sleeve the overwhelming majority (64 per cent of the overall vote) said “No, not at all” when asked if the Gunners have got a chance against Barca.

Of course this means that 36 per cent believe the Gunners do have a chance of taking a first leg advantage to the Camp Nou but the general consensus is that this two-legged tie will be the Emirates side’s last involvement in this year’s European competition.

This sentiment is backed up by the betting, which has the hosts down as 18/5 outsiders for victory despite the supposed home advantage.

A draw wouldn’t be the worst result for the Gunners at 29/10 but at odds of 17/20 it seems the English side are consigned to defeat against the prolific triumvirate of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez.

The latter of that trio inadvertently boosted Gooner confidence earlier today when reports emerged that the Uruguayan had turned up at the airport without his passport.

However as quickly as that hope was raised it was dashed just moments later when it was confirmed that the former Liverpool man has travelled with the Barca squad ready to continue his deadly form.
