5 players who Premier League clubs must move fast to sign

Published:

The January transfer window may have closed less than two weeks ago, but there is never time to let up the search for a new signing as far as football is concerned.

Clubs will now be turning their attention to the summer, checking out the potential targets and preparing to make several multi-million pound bids to bag their men.

But a huge transfer fee isn’t always necessary, with a plethora of stars coming to the end of their contracts in the summer waiting to be snapped up for nothing.

The youngsters will see tribunals settle the costs a buying club must pay, but for those over the age of 25, a free transfer is exactly what it is.

Here are five players that Premier League clubs could do well to move early and bag their signatures ahead of the next campaign.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic – PSG

Yes, any perspective suitors wouldn’t have to pay the French giants a penny, but Zlatan’s services wouldn’t come cheap with the striker set to command a rather hefty wage.

His stats don’t lie though, and even though he is approaching the twilight of his career at 34-years-old, 25 goals and 11 assists in 31 appearances for Les Parisiens is an unbelievable return.

The Swede might just want a crack at the Premier League before he retires, and with the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal lacking a consistent goal-scorer this term, he could fit the bill.

Nicolas N’Koulou – Marseille

Chelsea could be forced to look for a replacement for John Terry in the summer, and the Marseille centre-back could be a perfect fit.

It was reported that the Cameroonian international is set to leave the Stade Velodrome in June and make a move to the Premier League with the likes of Everton and Tottenham reportedly set to duke it out with the champions to secure his signature.

Sofiane Feghouli – Valencia

Another player that England’s top clubs are reportedly chasing is a Valencia man who was brought in to replace another Premier League-bound player at the club in Juan Mata.

Although his season at the Mestalla has been disjointed through injury, he was a mainstay last term, netting six goals and popping up with eight assists from 33 appearances in La Liga.

The club are reportedly confident of tying him down to a new contract, but if they continue to disappoint a move elsewhere could be more attractive.

Ever Banega – Sevilla

As recently as this week the central midfielder has been reported to be a target for the Manchester United, who are looking more and more likely to ship out Marouane Fellaini at the end of the campaign according to the press.

The 38-capped Argentina international would add some much sought-after flair and creativity to the Red Devils’ ranks, with the 27-year-old well known for his penchant for a long dribble at the heart of the opposition defence.

Caner Erkin – Fenerbahce

If it’s a marauding full-back who can provide plenty of chances that you are after then look no further than Fenerbahce’s out-of-contract left-back.

Having made 152 appearances for Fener since arriving in 2010, the Turkish international has become an important cog in the club’s machine that has seen them win two of the last four championships.

Erkin has provided a total of 44 assists since arriving at the club at the start of the 2010-11 season and could be an excellent left-back signing for a number of Premier League clubs.
