Winless run sees Forfar’s odds for the drop at their shortest yet

They may not have been in league action since January 9 but Forfar Athletic’s odds to finish bottom of the pile continue to contract.
After winning three of their first four matches of this Ladbrokes League 1 campaign, the Loons were a whopping 100/1 to finish in 10th place in May.
However, since then it has been all downhill for the Angus club, with just one victory since the end of August and a change in management taking place at Station Park.
With Gary Bollan in charge they were cut to 7/2 to prop up the table after their defeat at home to runaway leaders Dunfermline Athletic, but punters have been quick to kick the Loons while they were down.
The money that has continued to flow has seen Ladbrokes forced to clip them again into 10/3 for the division’s wooden spoon.
Without a victory since September 12, it’s been a case of draws rather than consistent defeats that have caused problems for Athletic.
Nine defeats this term doesn’t read as a disastrous record when you consider that only the top four sides in the division have tasted defeat on fewer occasions.
But with nine draws on their record, more than all but one of their rivals, the failure to rack up three points has been telling.
It hasn’t just been managerial alterations at hand after Dick Campbell’s exit, with recent changes to playing personnel charged with influencing a uplift in fortunes at the club.
Chris Templeman, who had racked up 69 goals in 271 appearances for the side, departed last week after first team opportunities began to dry up.
The man tasked with filling his boots is Andy Ryan, who joins after being released by Hamilton Academical.
The 21-year-old has shown in glimpses that he could be the man to influence things in front of goal for Forfar, with four goals during a loan spell at Arbroath last season.
He will need to hit the ground running with his new employers set to take on Stenhousemuir on Saturday, with bottom side Brechin picking up four points in their last two games to close the gap.
Fall to Stenny though, and Forfar’s price to finish bottom of the table will surely be clipped once again.
