The fans have spoken – now’s the time for Louis van Gaal to go

The bookies think Louis van Gaal’s time at Old Trafford is up, and now the fans do too according to Ladbrokes’ latest poll.

A defeat to Southampton at the weekend saw Manchester United fall to their sixth league defeat in the Premier League this term, extending their stay in fifth place in the table.

Their tally of 37 points from their opening 23 Premier League matches this term is the lowest United have achieved since 1988-89, and LVG is sure to take on the brunt of the blame with his tenure coming under increased scrutiny.

The fans certainly agree with a whopping 95 per cent suggesting that now is the time for the Dutchman to fall on his sword, compared to the five per cent who think he should stay.

For those wanting to see the back of the former Bayern Munich and Barcelona gaffer there is good news in the shape of the betting markets which suggest the 64-year-old will not take charge of another Premier League fixture for the Manchester outfit.

Ladbrokes make it a 4/6 chance that he is gone before the Red Devils take on Stoke on February 2, while it is an even money chance that he is clearing his desk before Friday night’s FA Cup tie against Derby.

Van Gaal himself spoke of how he was unable to deliver the standards that are expected of him at the club and it appears that now he will have to face reality that it is time for another man to come in and aim for those desired highs.
