Stoke line up another Barcelona star to boost their ranks

Stoke City boss Mark Hughes is set to dip into the talent pool of Barcelona once again with the Potters being linked with a loan move for Macky Bagnack.

Hughes has already lured three former Barca stars to the Britannia with Marc Muniesa, Ibrahim Afellay and Bojan Krcic now playing under the man who himself enjoyed a spell at the Nou Camp and now the 20-year-0old Cameroonian defender is next on his wish list.

Bagnack joined Barca’s famed La Masia academy in 2008 and after some assured displays has progressed to become a regular starter in the Barca B side this season.

The centre back has already represented Cameroon twice, but could come to England in a bid to further his domestic career after being overlooked for opportunities in the Catalan side’s first XI by Barca manager Luis Enrique.

Barcelona gave the player a new contract only last year, tying him to the Nou Camp until 2020, but with a release clause of €12m a successful spell in the Premier League could see Hughes offer him a permanent home at the Britannia in the summer.

Next up for Stoke is a trip to the King Power to take on high flying Leicester and the Potters go into the game as 14/5 outsiders.

The Foxes can be backed at even money and the draw is available at 23/10 but should Stoke’s former Barca trio perform to the best of their ability there could well be value in backing the away win.
