Spurs supremo would be completely mad to consider Chelsea switch

Mauricio Pochettino’s stock has been on the rise ever since he arrived in the Premier League and the job he’s currently doing at Tottenham is only accelerating his ascent to the top.
Manchester United have already been touted as the Argentine’s next club, with Louis van Gaal struggling to appease the baying Old Trafford faithful. Now, another struggling member of the division’s elite look to be lining up the Lilywhites guru.
Chelsea are considering the prospect of making Pochettino their next full-time manager, according to a report in the Independent, but the former Saints man would be mad to consider the Blues his next port of call.
An obvious, short-term reason why Pochettino must run from Chelsea like a deer from a cheetah is that Spurs have a far greater chance of playing in Europe next season.
The White Hart Lane outfit are 1/3 to finish in the top four with Ladbrokes, while the King’s Road club are a distant 18/1.
What’s more, Spurs’s profile is a far better fit for the 43-year-old, with an ingrained culture of developing their own young talent and building success, rather than buying finished product superstars and expecting trophies immediately.
Although he only spent one full season on the south coast before flocking to London, Pochettino is a manager that likes to bed in at one club – as he did at Espanyol between the 2008/09 and 2012/13 seasons.
The lifespan of a manager at Chelsea is nowhere near that long and the former centre-back would be given far longer to succeed at Spurs than he would by the notoriously trigger-happy Roman Abramovich.
Spurs’ next Premier League assignment comes in the form of an away trip to Norwich, where they are 17/20 to win, while Chelsea are 20/21 to beat Watford at Vicarage Road.
