Ross County hotshot named Ladbrokes Premiership Player of the Month

Ross County hitman Liam Boyce has had his recent performances recognised after picking up the Ladbrokes Player of the Month award for December.

The Staggies remain on course for a top half finish in the Ladbrokes Premiership this season and that is down in no small part to the form of the 24-year-old former Clintonville striker.

Boyce has smashed 17 goals for club and country this season, helping Northern Ireland reach the Promised Land that is Euro 2016, but it is his performances for County in recent weeks that have really caught the eye.

His second-half strike may not have been enough to stop the Staggies going down 3-2 at home to St Johnstone early in the month but it paved the way for more goals and he capped the scoring in a 3-1 away win over Hamilton next time out.

Boyce took it up a gear when County hosted Dundee on Boxing Day with his hat-trick ensuring the Staggies came out on top of a high-scoring affair, eventually running out 5-2 winners.

Upon handing Boyce his Player of the Month trophy, Ladbrokes spokesman David Macdonald said: “Liam makes scoring goals look effortless, his form has been outstanding for Ross County this season and no doubt he’ll make the same impact for Northern Ireland at Euro 2016.”

The Staggies will have to do without Boyce when they host Aberdeen this weekend, with the striker sidelined with a broken wrist.

The hosts are expected to struggle without their talismanic forward and go into the game as 23/10 underdogs. The Dons can be backed at 23/20, with the draw on at 23/10, but if his Staggies team-mates can channel his energy Boyce might just see his side win from the sidelines.
